In November of 2009 I went on a weekend trip with my awesome girlfriend. We visited two of the area's most notable attractions, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. It was a good trip. We stayed at the Days Hotel on Hotel Circle. Since it was just our base of operations for sleeping and planning for the next day, we chose a cheap but relatively close hotel. The quality was better than expected and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit many attractions in the San Diego area without paying a huge amount of money towards the hotel.

Since San Diego is less than three hours from our residence by car, that was our means of travel. Due to this, we didn't do a whole lot of walking outside of the venues we visited. Sea World has an amazing array of shows and exhibits that showcase live animals performing neat tricks and triumphs for the amusement of humans. We saw a few different shows, including "Sea Lions Live" which had sea lions, otters and a walrus performing tricks and recreating popular TV shows. The walrus looked very much like Jamie Hyneman from the Mythbusters. Another of the shows we saw was called "Pets Rule!" and showcased tons of domesticated animals such as dogs, cats and ducks doing amusing tricks. It's amazing what regular household pets can do when trained properly.

The next day we visited the San Diego Zoo. It's not as exciting as Sea World, due to the animals being put in a more natural environment, but it is still very entertaining. Getting to see all those different kinds of animals and learning about them was very interesting. If you like animals, this is the perfect place to see and learn about them in a semi natural environment. The elephant odyssey exhibit was very cool and showed how elephants have evolved from mammoths into what they are today. So that's all I really have to say about this trip at this time.
